The European Commission is present in the Space Exploraterra the creation of Seville Center of Innovation for the Industrial Transformation and Emissions (ABET) to advance the decarbonisation and decontamination

The Joint Research Centre (JRC, for its acronym in English) of the European Commission has today presented the European Centre of Innovation for the Industrial Transformation and Emissions (ABET). This initiative seeks to accelerate the deployment of clean industrial technologies, contributing to an industry circular and more competitive in Europe.

The directors-general of the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre and the Environment, Bernard Magenhann and Florika Fink-Hooijer, have attended the presentation of this new centre in the Space Exploraterra of Seville, in which participated representatives of different sectors of the industry, the finance sector, Ngos, technology providers in Europe and institutions across Europe.

INCITE will work from seville to provide information that is transparent and independent on the environmental impact of industrial techniques, innovative, within the new Industrial Emissions Directive, which aims to provide a better protection of human health and the environment, by reducing the harmful emissions of industrial facilities.

This new center will identify and assess the maturity of innovative technologies related to the decarbonisation, energy efficiency, circular economy and decontamination. Its researchers will look at whether these new technologies are ready for use at industrial level and assess both its environmental aspects as well as economic. This center will encompass all sectors under the Industrial Emissions Directive, with a special focus on more energy-intensive, as the cement, steel and chemical industry.

The technical information and data integrated into INCITES will be also useful for investments in innovation necessary for Europe to move towards an economy more clean, circular and competitive and reach the goal of climate neutrality in 2050. Also, both the industry, financial institutions, technology providers, authorities and permits, research organizations, and technology will have access to the assessments and findings of technical INCITES.
