The Exploraterra Sanlúcar Space is a cultural center conceived by the Nao Victoria Foundation to commemorate the feat of the First Circumnavigation of the World and to pay tribute to the exploratory spirit of man throughout history.

Located at the emblematic “zero mile” of that great maritime feat, the unique 19th-century building in Sanlúcar de Barrameda known as “El Castillito,” recently renovated, has become the perfect setting to relive the epic of Magellan and Elcano, placing the visitor at the geographical point from where the expedition departed and returned.
Through its galleries, the public discovers the key aspects of the First Circumnavigation of the World, experiencing the challenges of the ocean voyage and understanding this feat and the challenges faced by 16th-century navigators in a different, more human, and relatable way. It’s an experience that connects history to the present and the future, inviting reflection on humanity’s attitude throughout history towards the unknown and new challenges. An endless journey that continues today…

Education and visits
In the exhibition space, schoolchildren will be able to experience a sensory journey through the sensations and experiences of the ships themselves and the protagonists of the exploratory feats, getting closer to understanding their true dimension and the scope of their achievements.
The educational program is designed for elementary, middle, and high school students. Students will learn firsthand why the exploration expeditions took place, who their key figures were, how the expeditions were prepared, and their consequences.
Nao Victoria Foundation
The Nao Victoria Foundation is a non-profit organization that specializes in the promotion and development of events through its replicas of historic ships (Nao Victoria, El Galeón, Nao Santa María and the Nao Victoria 500) in ports around the world.
