The shapes and details of the Nao Victoria 500 are the result of an exhaustive historical study, using documentary sources from the expedition, chronicles, naval construction treatises, iconography of the time, etc.
The Nao Victoria 500 was built in the shipyards of Punta Umbría (Huelva), where the Nao Victoria Foundation previously built the Galeón Andalucía and a replica of the Nao Santa María.
Construction began in February 2019 and its launch was exactly one year later, after which it was towed to Seville to dock in front of the Paseo Marqués de Contadero, a few meters from the Exploraterra Space and the Torre del Oro.
Its construction was the result of twelve months of intense work involving all the trades related to shipbuilding: shipwrights, caulkers, net makers, sailmakers, artisans, engineers, historians, etc.
The Nao Victoria 500 has a length of 26 meters, a beam of 6.6 meters, a draft of 3 meters and 3 masts (in addition to the bowsprit), which fly 6 sails with a surface area of 290 m².
