Construction

Creating this replica has been a challenge of enormous technical and multidisciplinary complexity that has required more than 30 months of intensive work directed by the NAO VICTORIA FOUNDATION In an innovative and cutting-edge undertaking, the rigorous preliminary research carried out by Ignacio Fernández Vial, the project’s author, which meticulously recreated the original vessel’s form and construction details, was followed by the application of the most innovative systems in the shipbuilding sector for historical replicas of this kind. This achievement was made possible thanks to the seamless coordination of specialized work in engineering, carpentry, metalwork, and mechanics.

One of the main new features of this recreation of the Real Fernando is that it has a system of electric propulsion, developed by FINANZAUTOwhich allows for completely clean and silent navigation on the Guadalquivir River. Visually, the boat retains the great appeal of its side paddle wheel propulsion system, maintaining the romantic aesthetic that astonished 19th-century Seville.

Today, thanks to the Nao Victoria FoundationSeville has the opportunity to reclaim this pioneering legacy. This recreation is not just a ship, but a living piece of history and a floating museum of the city. Your visit allows us to relive that Seville which, around its maritime tradition, he dared to be pioneer and revolutionary. A ship that embodies the spirit of a bold city, innovative and open to the world.
